What's Included

Check the instructions and complete label for each pack before cooking.

Herbal Blends

The range includes 12 named soup blends arranged in three traditional stages. Each pack contains dried ingredients for cooking at home. Check the complete ingredient list for the specific blend and its packet directions before cooking.

Why families choose the kit

  • Portioned dried soup ingredients reduce separate sourcing and measuring at home.
  • Three stages reflect a Chinese postpartum food tradition and help organize the kit.
  • Cook each blend with the water and fresh additions specified on its packet.

Choosing for your needs

  • After a C-section: Follow your discharge instructions. Ask your care team about a specific herbal blend if you are unsure.
  • While breastfeeding: Have unfamiliar ingredients checked by your clinician or pharmacist using the full packet label.
  • Meat-free cooking: Check the complete blend label and preparation changes before choosing. Omitting meat does not by itself establish vegetarian or allergen suitability.

Lab-Tested & Certified

Every herb in our blends is lab-tested and certified, batch by batch, for heavy metals and microbial safety.

3 Stages of Recovery

The traditional framework trusted for postpartum recovery

  • Stage 1: Release & Repair (清、催)

The first days after birth are about gentle recovery. This stage focuses on clearing lochia, supporting uterine repair and encouraging milk flow. Warmth and nourishment help your body begin its path back to balance.

Assorted dried herbs on a plate with a package of tea on a brown surface
  • Stage 2: Regulate & Rebalance (调)

The focus shifts to restoring balance. This stage nourishes blood and yin, replenishes the kidneys and eases the lower back. Toward the end, gentler spleen and stomach blends begin settling your digestion for the weeks ahead.

Dried fruits and nuts on a plate with a package of Golden Month tea on a brown surface.
  • Stage 3: Rebuild & Revitalize (补、养)

The final stage consolidates vitality for the long term. By nourishing the liver and kidneys, improving circulation and building reserves, this phase supports deeper renewal and lasting recovery.

Why families choose the kit

Traditional soup blends, portioned for home cooking.

Rooted in Chinese tradition

Our soup range draws on Chinese postpartum food traditions and their emphasis on warm meals and a gradual return to everyday routines. The three-stage range gives that tradition a practical sequence for home cooking.

Know your ingredients

Each blend has its own ingredient list. Read the product details and packet label before choosing, especially when you need to check allergens or the processing of an ingredient. Our ingredient guide explains common English and Chinese names.

Pre-portioned blends

The dried ingredients are portioned into soup packs, reducing the separate sourcing and measuring needed at home. Match the blend name to its preparation instructions before adding water and fresh ingredients.

Simple preparation

Choose the pack you plan to cook, read its instructions and prepare the fresh additions. Allow time for rinsing or soaking where directed, heating, simmering and cleanup. The preparation guide helps you plan the work.

Made for Different Postpartum Journeys

C-section or Vaginal Birth

Follow your discharge instructions. If you are unsure about a particular herbal blend, ask your care team to check its full ingredient list. There is no single rice-wine timing rule that applies to everyone after surgery.

Breastfeeding Mothers

Each blend has its own ingredients. If you are breastfeeding, ask your clinician or pharmacist about unfamiliar herbs using the complete packet label.

First-Time or Experienced Mothers

Portioned dried blends and packet directions can help you plan who will shop, cook and clean up. You still need to add the specified fresh ingredients and cook the soup.

What is Confinement?

In Chinese postpartum traditions, zuo yue zi (坐月子), or “sitting the month,” makes room for rest, familiar food and help from others after birth.

Families practice it in different ways. A soup kit can help organize one part of the food plan, alongside other meals and practical support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these soups actually help my postpartum recovery?

From Customer Reviews

Based on all customer reviews, mothers consistently report measurable improvements in their physical recovery, energy levels, and milk supply during the critical first month postpartum.

  • Milk supply: First-time mothers specifically mention the soups helped their bodies recover from the significant changes of birth, with one customer noting her milk supply increased from about 0.7–1 US fl oz (20–30 mL) of colostrum to about 5 US fl oz (150 mL) per session within just one week of drinking the soups alongside the lactation tea.
  • Energy restoration: Reviewers who remembered feeling "depleted and exhausted" with previous births emphasized how the soups gave them noticeably more energy during those demanding early weeks, helping them manage night feeds, diaper changes, and sleep deprivation.
  • Mental relief: Multiple customers describe how knowing their body was being "properly nourished" removed a huge mental load during a time when they were already overwhelmed, making the soups as valuable for mental wellbeing as physical recovery.

What is included in the Confinement Soup Package?

Each postpartum soup package includes individually packed dried herbal blends, one for each day (e.g., the 30-day package includes 30 individual packs).

Every pack is pre-measured and designed to be prepared fresh at home.

Are the soups ready to consume?

Our soups are not pre-cooked. Each pack contains a measured blend of premium dried herbs. To enjoy the full benefits, the confinement soup herbs need to be simmered at home following our simple preparation instructions.

The result? A fresh, nourishing soup made right in your own kitchen. No preservatives, no additives, just real ingredients and traditional care.

How much soup does each daily package actually make?

Each postpartum soup pack is designed for one day, to complement a balanced diet.

It provides 2 to 3 servings and can be enjoyed throughout the day, ideally split between morning, afternoon and evening.

It’s important to consume the soups in the recommended sequence, one pack per day, to ensure your body receives the right support at the right time

From Customer Reviews

Customers report generous portions that stretch across multiple meals, with flexibility to adjust based on your appetite.

  • 2-3 meals per day: Reviewers confirm "the portion size was good, enough to have over 2-3 meals" from each daily package.
  • Adjustable servings: One mother successfully divided packages in half to "extend my journey longer" while keeping ingredients fresher, showing the portions are substantial.

Are your soups breastfeeding friendly?

Yes, our confinement herbal soups are designed with breastfeeding moms in mind. They include ingredients traditionally used in Chinese herbal cooking to support nourishment during lactation.

These ingredients, such as rice paper pith, peanuts and red dates, have historically been selected to help replenish energy, support general wellbeing and are commonly included in postpartum diets.

However, every body is different - we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns around breastfeeding or dietary needs.

Are your soups suitable for C-section recovery?

Yes, our soups are safe to consume after both vaginal and C-section births. Each blend is made from natural, premium grade herbs and is designed to be gentle and nourishing during your recovery.

However, we recommend omitting rice wine for at least the first 10 days after a C-section. In Traditional Chinese practices, alcohol is considered too stimulating for fresh surgical wounds. You can still enjoy the soup without wine - it won't affect the herbal benefits.

As always, if you have specific medical conditions or are taking medications, please consult your healthcare provider.

I’m having a C-section. When can I start?

You can start as early as the day after giving birth, or wait until you are home from the hospital and settled in. Both work, so go with whatever feels manageable.

The soups are gentle and warming, and they suit cesarean recovery well. One thing to note: leave the rice wine out for at least the first 10 days. In traditional practice, alcohol is considered too stimulating for a fresh surgical wound. The soup works just as well without it.

If you have a specific medical condition or are taking medication, please check with your healthcare provider.

How do I choose the right soup package for me?

We offer confinement soup packages for 10, 20 and 30 days, so you can choose what best suits your recovery needs, budget and lifestyle.

  • 10-day pack – Great as a trial or short-term support
  • 20-day pack – A balanced option if you're easing into confinement care
  • 30-day pack – ⭐ Our most popular choice, designed to support you through a full traditional confinement period

For most moms, we recommend the 30-day package. It aligns with the traditional 30-day recovery and provides a complete journey through all three stages of postpartum recovery.

How easy is it to prepare these soups?

Preparing your Golden Month Postpartum Soup is simple:

  1. Rinse
Rinse the herbs from the soup pack in cold water to awaken them.
  2. Add ingredients
Add the rinsed herbs, about 6⅓ US cups of water (1.5 L), about 14–18 oz of meat (400–500 g) (recommended meat is listed on the individual pack), and optional add-ons like 3 slices of ginger or about 3 US tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon of rice wine (50 mL) into a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Simmer
Reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and let it simmer for 1.5 hours.
  4. Finish and serve
Add ½–1 tsp of salt, or adjust to taste. Each pack yields about 4¼ US cups of soup (1 L), suitable for 2–3 servings.

Alternative cooking method

  • Pressure cooker: Use about 4¼ US cups of water (1 L) and cook for 30 minutes.
  • Slow cooker: Use about 5–5½ US cups of water (1.2–1.3 L) and cook for 4–6 hours.

From Customer Reviews

Based on customer reviews, new parents consistently report that preparation is simple enough for partners with no cooking experience to handle daily.

  • Partner-friendly preparation: Multiple reviewers specifically mention their husbands successfully preparing the soups, with one stating "they are very easy to prepare, even my husband can do it."
  • Pressure cooker simplicity: Customers report "just throwing everything together each day" with a pressure cooker and getting great results every time, with clear instructions eliminating guesswork.
  • Pre-organized daily packages: Each of the 20 days comes with its own customized package, so you don't have to think about what to make or measure ingredients during recovery.

What if I've never made traditional Chinese confinement soups before?

From Customer Reviews

First-time users with no traditional cooking experience report excellent results following the included instructions.

  • No experience required: Partners and family members with no background in Chinese cooking successfully prepared the soups daily, with one husband managing preparation while his wife recovered.
  • Foolproof instructions: Customers report the soups "turned out great" even when simply throwing ingredients together, indicating clear guidance that prevents mistakes.
  • Authentic results guaranteed: Reviewers familiar with traditional confinement practices confirm the soups deliver authentic nourishment and flavor without requiring specialized knowledge.

Are your soups suitable for vegetarians?

Yes, our soup packages are completely vegetarian. They’re made with 100% plant-based herbs and contain no garlic or onion. You don’t need to add meat when preparing them, though the flavor will naturally be lighter and more herbal.

For a balanced flavor, use vegetable stock and add ingredients such as tofu, mushrooms, carrots, corn, lotus root, or any other protein and vegetables you enjoy.

Can I use the soups if I don’t eat pork or meat?

Yes. Every pack contains dried herbs only. No meat is included, so there is nothing in the pack itself that needs to change. You add your own protein at home when you cook.

Where pork is suggested on a daily pack, swap in chicken, beef, lamb or fish, whichever suits you. The meat suggestion is there for flavor and balance, not as a requirement, and changing it will not affect the herbal benefits.

If you would rather skip meat altogether, use a vegetable stock with tofu, mushrooms or any plant protein you enjoy.

When should I start drinking the confinement soups?

You can start as early as the day after giving birth, but there’s no need to rush. Many moms begin once they’ve returned home from the hospital and settled in.

Whether you start right away or a few days later, you’ll still enjoy the full nourishing benefits of the soups throughout your recovery.

I’m already a few weeks postpartum. Is it too late to start?

Not at all. The soups are nourishing at any point in the postpartum period, and many moms begin later than day one. Traditional confinement care is often observed for up to 100 days after birth, so a few weeks in you are still well within that window.

Start at Stage 1, Day 1 and work through in order rather than skipping ahead to match the week you are in. The three stages are sequenced deliberately. Stage 1 releases and repairs, Stage 2 regulates and rebalances, and Stage 3 rebuilds and revitalizes.

Traditional practice introduces the richer tonifying herbs only once the body has finished clearing, and the gentler early blends give your digestion time to settle before the stronger ones arrive. Working through in order means you get the full benefit of the sequence, just on your own timeline.

Tap through the 30 days to see why each stage comes when it does.

Will I get bored eating soup for 30 days straight?

From Customer Reviews

The pack provides built-in variety with different customized recipes for each day, eliminating monotony throughout the month.

  • Daily variety: Reviewers specifically praise how the soups are "organized by day with customized packages" that provide different flavors throughout the 30-day period.
  • Consistently delicious: Customers describe the soups as "delicious" and "yummy" across the full month, with one stating "she enjoyed the variety and flavor of the soups and teas."
  • No repetition fatigue: Zero reviews mention getting tired of the soups, with multiple customers expressing they were "very happy with this package" through completion.

How to store the soup packs?

To maintain the freshness and quality of your premium herbal products, please store them with care:

  • Keep herbal packs in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, heat, or humidity
  • For best results, you may also store them in the refrigerator
  • Avoid exposure to moisture or high temperatures, which may affect the herbs’ potency

The shelf life is up to 1 year.

Are there any allergens in your soup?

Contains peanuts, tree nuts (walnuts) and soy.

All ingredients are clearly listed on each soup label.

How do I get the most out of my confinement?

To fully support your recovery during this important time, we recommend combining a few key elements of traditional care. Pairing your postpartum soups with Confinement Teas and Herbal Baths helps nourish your body both inside and out, promoting warmth, circulation and balance.

For the complete confinement experience, we recommend the 30-Day Complete Confinement Bundle: soups, teas, and baths for your full postpartum recovery journey in one.

Where are your herbs sourced from?

Our herbs come from China's traditional growing regions, the heartlands where each ingredient has been cultivated for generations. Sourcing directly from China lets us access herbs from their authentic growing regions, where climate, soil and traditional cultivation practices all contribute to quality. It also gives us better consistency, traceability and selection than sourcing through secondary distributors or non-native growing regions.

Every herb is batch-tested and supplied with a Certificate of Analysis (COA), which verifies safety and quality, including testing for heavy metals and microbial levels.

Learn more about the traditional herb growing regions here.

You can get to know each herb, and how to tell its quality, in our Herb Library.

Are the herbs and ingredients actually fresh and high quality?

I completed the 30-day soup package recently. I found the soup essential for restoring my health and energy during my postpartum journey. My lips are not pale at all! Some of the soups are also suitable for other family members and are very nourishing for the body. You can mix and match different types of meat, don't need to be the meat suggest for each package if that works better.

K
Kenneth (Auckland, New Zealand)

My wife has just given birth and have been using it for 8 days. Really easy to cook with simple instructions. We initially thought they will all taste the same but each pack tastes quite different and really good. My wife enjoys eating it and will recommend it to our friends.

C
Catherine (New South Wales, Australia)

I’m very impressed with the confinement soups! They were beautifully packaged, easy to prep (simple instructions), affordable and very tasty. Even my mother and mother in law who prepared some of the soups each week agreed. This was more convenient than trying to find confinement soups from a TCM store/clinic. I would absolutely order this package again if I have more kids in the future.

S
Stecia O. (Victoria, Australia)

Golden Month (GM) trully helps me (who leave far away from parents and don’t get support) in my postpartum phase. I ordered the 30 days package and the packaging are amazing. GM considered my due date so they gave me the best and fresh product for me. It comes with very simple cooking instructions, I just needed to add specific meat and salt (as per instruction). We were told in separate card what specific meats we need to buy in advance (every 10 days before). So in summary, GM made my life easier. Thanks GM!

Nicole (Western Australia, Australia)

As a new mother, this 30-day confinement soup package was such a lifesaver. It took away so much of the stress of preparing nourishing hesrbal soups during my recovery. I loved that each day’s herbal ingredients were pre-packed, so all I had to do was add the meat and let it cook. It was so convenient, and I had peace of mind knowing I was getting the right nourishment every day. I purchased the full 30-day package and would happily buy it again for my next baby. Highly recommend it to any mother looking for an easy and nourishing confinement experience.

R

My daughter, Rachel enjoyed the soups very much. We love the cusine fragrance. The package is really very convenient & well formulated especially with individual packed. I had mentioned to a few friends and they are very impressed I found these products.
The whole packaging is beyond my expectations and will not hesitate to recommend to any friends.

It’s quite the investment but your health is your wealth and I do believe these teas have played an important part in my recovery in these early postpartem days, I’m only up to day 12 but knowing that I’m nourishing my kidneys today makes me feel good that I’m looking after myself because my baby is relying on me. There is hair tonics and blood nourishing soups which I love because I did lose a fair bit of blood and then the lactation tea was an added bonus I believe I can’t say for sure but my supply has been amazing and everyone is shocked by how much I can pump and it could very well be because of this tea. Thanks again for offering such a beautiful product in a western medicine world.

Golden Month Confinement Soup Package has been really helpful. Very easy to make the soup during this time with our newborn saving us time. My wife and I really love the taste of the soup.

S
Sara L. (Victoria, Australia)

Lovely package and clear instruction. The taste of soup is better than I thought however some ingredients might not suit my body, it might be great if there is more option for the soup packs, i.e. I am more a hot base that cannot eat too much of some herbs. Overall, it was great and staff is responsive and friendly via email communication.

E
Elke L. (Australian Capital Territory, Australia)

I had heard about the Chinese tradition of confinement and was interested in trying some aspects of it for my first pregnancy. This was a great option at a great pricepoint. I had pre-prepared and frozen the broth we needed ahead of time so it was easy for my partner to prepare. I really looked forward to each soup and found that they made me feel nourished after such a long labour!

Soup packages have detailed instructions, taste great, good price and very convenient. Every morning I put all the ingredients into bear slow cooker then delicious soup for the whole day. Highly recommended as a minimum especially for those who cannot secure a confinement meal (which is a lot more expensive anyways)

These 30 day package was perfect for what I needed during my confinement. Everyday I wouldn’t need to worry about how to heal and nourish my body because each package is customized to do that. I simply added my own veggies and meat to the soups.

Thank you for creating a great product!
