Postpartum and Confinement Services in Virginia: Providers and Prices

Northern Virginia, Richmond and Hampton Roads have separate postpartum service areas. The offers below show an hourly home-care option in Northern Virginia, fixed visit packages in Richmond, daytime hours in Hampton Roads and a Chantilly massage appointment.

Northern Virginia: hourly care and a separate appointment

From The Start serves Northern Virginia as well as DC and Maryland. Its daytime rate is $45/hour, sunrise support $50/hour and overnight support $55/hour. A retainer is due when the contract is signed.

Northern Virginia Birth Services lists postpartum massage at Premier Birth Center in Chantilly. An in-home visit adds $50 for travel and setup to the appointment price. These are separately booked appointments, so do not include them in a doula budget unless the quote expressly does so. Check the individual practitioner's credentials before booking.

Richmond: package timing and deposits

Coming Home's daytime package costs $750 for five three-hour visits used over one to three weeks. It lists a $150 deposit and per-visit payments. A single three-hour visit costs $175. Its general FAQ describes a possible $30 driving fee based on the provider's location; its applicability to doula bookings is not established here.

Coming Home's overnight packages run 10 p.m.–6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Six visits across two weeks cost $2,100; nine across three weeks cost $3,150; twelve across four weeks cost $4,200. The overnight deposit is $1,000, with the balance due at the first visit, and an added night is $350.

Put overnight working and rest arrangements in the booking terms, along with backup cover and cancellation conditions.

Hampton Roads: daytime hours and early-use packages

Freedom Birth Co.'s daytime support is $40/hour with a one-hour minimum, within a service window of 8:30 a.m.–9 p.m. The $280 package consists of four two-hour visits over the first two weeks. Twenty hours cost $670 for support in the first six weeks; fifty hours cost $1,650. Those longer packages can be split into two- or four-hour visits. The provider does not offer overnight shifts. The fifty-hour package's use period is not established here.

Planning Chinese confinement routines and meals

The home-care providers in this selection describe general postpartum support. Their listings do not establish Mandarin-speaking care, Chinese meal preparation or a local Chinese confinement meal-delivery route. If you want a yuesao or particular confinement routines, ask about those requirements during matching and put the agreed duties in writing.

For cooking at home, decide who shops, cooks and stores meals, and whether those tasks take place during the caregiver's paid hours. A quoted care shift should specify what can be completed alongside infant care.
