Postpartum Food and Confinement Support in Seattle and Bellevue

Seattle and Bellevue families can arrange Chinese or Asian-tradition postpartum cooking, broader doula help, or meals that arrive prepared. Start with the work you need covered: cooking a familiar menu, caring for the baby while you rest, or getting dinner onto the table. Those are different bookings, even when a provider offers more than one.

This guide compares four local services with published Seattle or Eastside coverage. Golden Month sells cook-at-home soup kits and publishes this guide; we have not hired or visited these providers. Details were checked October 8, 2026. Rates are USD, and open dates have not been confirmed.

Seattle and Eastside options

“Chinese confinement care” should tell you something about the actual service, not just the neighborhood. Sitting Moon describes Asian-rooted care; Body Enmotion explicitly offers Chinese confinement support and a Chinese personal chef. The other two services below describe general postpartum help, including meal preparation. Their reviewed pages do not establish Chinese cooking or Chinese-language support.

Provider Published coverage Food and other help
Sitting Moon Doula Seattle, West Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland and Renton; based in Columbia City. Asian-inspired cooking, with family recipes welcomed, within broader postpartum support. Daytime and overnight hours can be arranged.
Body Enmotion Seattle and Bellevue; also names Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah and other King/Snohomish County cities. Separate in-home Chinese personal-chef and Chinese postpartum-doula services. Lists Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi and English support; confirm the language of your assigned caregiver.
Belly to Babies Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond and Renton. Daytime postpartum care, meal-preparation assistance, infant and sibling care, and light housekeeping. Chinese-tradition specialty not established.
Full Circle Postpartum Care Seattle and the Eastside; the homepage does not give an address-by-address boundary. A doula team offering daytime and overnight help. Daytime services include meal preparation, errands, dishes, laundry and sibling care. Chinese-tradition specialty not established.

Confirm your address: A city on a service list is a starting point. Give the provider your ZIP code, requested shift times and parking or building-access details. For Full Circle, ask specifically about your Bellevue or other Eastside address before treating coverage as confirmed.

Rates and booking commitments

Compare the commitment: Compare the amount of help you must book, not only the hourly rate. These are published terms, not personalized quotes; groceries, travel, taxes and other unlisted charges are not assumed to be included.

Sitting Moon: a month of support

The published month package is 100 hours at $55 per hour, or $5,500 calculated from those figures. An optional two-week extension adds 40 hours at $55 per hour. The process includes a 50% deposit and a baby-preparation meeting approximately two weeks before the due date.

The FAQ says bookings fill far ahead. Its description of working with one family at a time differs from the packages page, which says one to three families per month. Ask how overlapping due dates, overnight hours and backup care would work for your booking.

Body Enmotion: choose chef time or care time

The service page lists an in-home Chinese personal chef at $100 per hour for three to six hours per visit and recommends a trial before birth. That is $300–$600 for the listed time alone. Confirm grocery purchasing and charges separately.

Its in-home doula listing shows daytime visits of six to twelve hours at $75 per hour and nighttime visits of eight to twelve hours at $85 per hour, with a ten-visit minimum contract. The page recommends reserving before birth. Ask for a written total and whether cooking is included in the care quote or booked separately.

Belly to Babies: daytime help

Postpartum services are listed at $65–$75 per hour, daytime only. Preference goes to families booking at least three visits per week, although the page says other schedules may be accommodated. That preference is not stated as a mandatory minimum. Ask about visit length, the applicable rate and current lead time.

Full Circle: check shift length first

The services page lists a four-hour minimum for daytime care and an eight-hour minimum for overnight care. We did not establish a current postpartum hourly rate from the reviewed pages. Request a quote for your proposed schedule; the birth-doula package price is a different service and should not be used to estimate postpartum care.

For a wider view, the U.S. Chinese confinement services directory distinguishes home care, meals and residential stays.

Cooking help versus delivered meals

An in-home cook needs access to your kitchen and an agreed menu. A doula who helps with meals may also be caring for the baby or supporting a sibling during the same shift. Ask what can realistically be cooked while those duties are underway. Do not assume a daytime care booking will produce breakfast, lunch and dinner for the entire family.

Prepared-meal delivery solves a different problem: food arrives without an in-home cooking visit. None of the four listings above establishes a daily Seattle/Bellevue prepared-meal delivery route. This is a gap in this researched selection, not a claim that no such service exists.

If delivery is your priority, use our U.S. postpartum meal-delivery comparison to explore prepared and frozen options. Confirm your exact ZIP code, shipping days, portions, storage needs and first delivery before relying on any plan. A national shipping option is not a local kitchen.

Questions for your first conversation

From a family menu to a clear quote

  1. Choose the workCooking, baby care, or prepared food
  2. Share the detailsZIP code, dates, dishes and ingredients
  3. Confirm the bookingNamed tasks, total cost and backup
A planning sequence for your household, not a promise about any provider’s services.

Send a short menu and task list before asking for a quote. For example: “We want congee for breakfast, a soup we choose together, and dinner for two adults. We also need someone to care for the baby during a daytime rest period.” This is an example request, not a menu any listed provider has agreed to supply.

  • Dishes: Which of our family recipes can you make? Can we agree on ingredients and substitutions before shopping?
  • Language: Who will come to our home, and which language can that person use comfortably with the parent and grandparents?
  • Allergens: Can you provide ingredient lists, check sauces and dried blends, and explain shared-equipment or cross-contact limits?
  • Kitchen work: Who buys groceries, brings equipment, portions leftovers and washes the pot? Are these tasks within paid hours?
  • Care boundaries: Which newborn, sibling and household tasks are included? What happens if cooking and baby care are needed at the same time?
  • Dates: How do you handle an early or late birth, a hospital stay, caregiver illness or a cancellation? Which charges are refundable?

You can value confinement traditions without wanting every customary dish or ritual. Tell the provider what feels familiar, what you dislike and what you want left out. Discuss health concerns with your own care team; a provider's traditional-care description does not establish a treatment benefit.

Where a soup kit fits

A dried soup kit can help a household that already has a willing cook. Golden Month's U.S. soup packages contain dried blends to prepare at home, rather than ready-to-eat meals. Plan for added groceries, cooking, serving and cleanup, as well as the rest of the day's food.

Golden Month soup box and individual dried soup packets, with a serving example and loose ingredients.
Golden Month’s own product photo shows individually packed dried blends. The bowl is a serving example; the kit needs added groceries and cooking at home. Check the selected package’s ingredients and instructions.

Before buying, review the selected formulas and preparation guide with whoever will cook. Check current stock and the shipping policy for your timing. Do not build the first days home around an unconfirmed arrival date.

If a grandparent will cook but needs ingredients organized, compare cook-at-home soup packages together. If nobody can take on cooking, start with prepared meals or paid kitchen help. Tea and bath products are optional additions; they do not cover meals or care hours.

If family or friends will share the cooking, our Chinese postpartum meal-train guide helps turn offers of help into named shopping, cooking and cleanup jobs.

Have someone ready to cook? Choose the formulas with them and allow for the rest of the day’s food.
